Whenever I want to prepare a simple home-style meal, this minced meat omelette is one that comes to mind. My god sister prepared this dish often when I was growing up. It is simple, and goes so well with a bowl of jasmine rice that I can eat it over and over again. I have not recorded this recipe since it was always prepared from  memories. There was no measurement and no recipe! We just whip up the minced meat and eggs and adjust to taste :). Hanna told me multiple times that she could not find the recipe on my blog; so this post is created specially for her. Here it is, every ingredient carefully measured and noted …

  • Prep time: 20 mins
  • Cook time: 30 mins
  • Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 Tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice wine
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
  • dash of msg (optional)

Directions

  1. Mix ground pork with soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, and white pepper. Set aside.
  2. Beat eggs with salt, chopped green onions, cilantro, and white pepper. Add a dash of msg if desired.
  3. Stir in ground pork. Whip until well combined.
  4. Grease a small omelette pan and set it over medium high heat.
  5. Fry a table spoon of the egg mixture for taste test. Adjust seasoning as desired.
  6. Ladle just enough egg mixture into the omelette pan. Fry until the egg is almost set and the mince meat is almost cook, about 3 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the omelette over and fry on the other side for another 2 minutes. Note: flipping too early will break the omelette, which is fine if you are not particular about having nicely shaped omelette patties.
  8. Repeat until all the egg mixture is cooked.
  9. Garnish with green onions and a dash of white pepper. Serve warm with a bowl of jasmine rice.
